Our Trust Community

We seek fullness of life for all, as Jesus promises 'life ... in all its fullness' [John 10.10]

Our multi-academy trust is proud to include five exceptional schools, each a strong and nurturing community in its own right. While every school has its own unique character and strengths, they are united by a shared commitment to providing high-quality education for all. Together, they foster inclusive environments where every child is known, valued, and supported to thrive. We celebrate the individuality of each school, recognising that their diverse approaches and identities enrich the trust as a whole and help us achieve our shared vision of excellence, opportunity, and care for every pupil.

Each school strives to work together with its wider community to provide the best possible life experiences for our pupils and their families.

Our governance is structured to enable each school to remain unique and yet benefit from strong collaboration to develop further.

What will be delegated?

The trust board considers the vision and aims of the trust and its academies, as well as strategy and policy to deliver its key objectives.  It has ultimate responsibility for all budgets, salaries and safeguarding.

Apart from ensuring good governance, the trust board’s primary objectives are to develop the trust, to assist the executive in delivering the best possible outcomes for all pupils and to hold the executive to account for the ways in which this is carried out.  It does this through the local academy boards (known as local boards within day to day running).

The local academy boards are be responsible for the day-to-day management and governance of the academies under their jurisdiction.  The majority of leadership and management will be delegated to the head teachers of each academy, in line with the scheme of delegation.  A trustee representative will be a member of each local academy board to ensure effective and coherent governance.  Governors will submit reports following their visits for consideration by each local academy board.

Members

The members will include a representative of the Chelmsford Diocese, the chair of the trust board and representatives of the community.

Directors/Trustees

The Chief Executive Officer oversees the work of all five schools and is the former head teacher of Shenfield St Mary’s CE Primary school, the founder school.  The trust board will invite there to be a member of each local board.  The chair of the trust board will be nominated by the board on an annual basis.  Trustees will have specific roles across the trust, overseeing that specific area, for example personnel related matters.

Committees

In addition to the boards, two committees consider issues across the whole trust – the pay committee and the finance, audit and risk committee.  The committees are made up of governors from all of the academy boards, together with academy head teachers.  Teaching and learning is the responsibility of the trust board.

Trust Expansion

The Mid Essex Anglican Academy Trust has grown to five schools, with Bentley St Paul's Church of England Primary School joining in September 2023 and Ingatestone Infant School and Ingatestone and Fryerning Church of England Junior School joining in September 2024.

The Trust has grown rapidly over the last year and therefore has no plans to expand further.  The Trust Board and CEO recognise that a period of stability is required to ensure all schools successfully deliver the Trust's aim 'to unlock every child's potential as a unique child of God' successfully.
